Beer Soda Bread

Serves
Makes one loaf
Beer Soda Bread
Easy bread that goes well with cheese and beer.

Ingredients

  • 225g plain white flour & 225g white bread flour with oats (or use just 500g plain white flour)
  • 2g salt
  • 1 tsp clear honey
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 150ml red ale (or a beer of your choice)
  • 150ml almond milk
  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Sieve the plain flour into a bowl and add bicarbonate of soda and salt. Mix well then stir through the flour and honey.

  2. Pour in the beer and milk and mix with your hands to form a dough. Tip the dough onto a lightly-floured baking tray, shape into a round and cut a cross into the top of the loaf. Dust with flour.

  3. Bake for 30-40 minutes. When it's ready, the base should sound hollow when tapped. If you can, leave the bread to cool before slicing. It goes well with cheese and beer - of course.
