The brunch series: Aesthete

For our final spot in our Sheffield brunch series, Aesthete in Walkley tell us what makes brunch special.

Aesthete salmon bowl

Aesthete Coffee + Kitchen is located in the heart of the Walkley community. It’s a mother and daughter run business that takes pride in serving freshly made breakfast and lunch.

Their home-cooked specialty dishes change on a daily basis and they always have a range of delicious artisan homemade cakes.

All this can be enjoyed in the beautiful surroundings of Aesthete, which has been designed to provide customers with a serene and relaxing atmosphere. Whether this is by sitting indoors, in a light and airy environment, sitting in their garden and watching the world go by or sitting in the cosy summer house / shed that overlooks the Walkley Greens garden.

Aesthete also supports local artists where customers can browse and / or purchase their art, alongside a wide range of thoughtful gifts.

Why we love brunch

We love brunch because it is the first meal of the day and the meal we have the greatest appetite for. It’s the meal that fuels us for the day ahead, whether it's a productive day or a relaxing one. It’s a meal where we want to be fulfilled but not overly full. We take all of this into consideration when creating our menu!

On top of all that, there's so much room to experiment and try new things that you wouldn't otherwise consider eating for breakfast or even lunch. Whether it's a breakfast eggs poutine with halloumi or a patatas bravas brunch bowl with bacon.

Our favourite dish on the menu

Our current favourite dish on the menu is our salmon brunch bowl. It consists of a herbed labneh base, sautéed crispy potatoes, spinach, mushrooms, leek, a poached egg, our house made pickle, za’atar nut crunch, sweet chilli drizzle and smoked salmon.

It is the ultimate brunch dish! It consists of such a variety of flavours and textures that blend together extremely well. It makes the perfect well-balanced and colourful summertime dish.

It was inspired by our travels around the world, particularly the Mediterranean, seeing the different blends of flavours from various cultures. We wanted to create a dish that seamlessly fused all of these tastes and textures together.

Our drink of choice

We would pair this brunch dish with a freddo cappuccino (iced cappuccino). This is a staple in my home country of Greece and perfect on a warm day.

Picture yourself sitting in our beautiful garden, a salmon brunch bowl and an iced coffee in front of you. The sun is shining, you have a good book… doesn’t that sound relaxing? All that’s missing is the sound of the Mediterranean sea.

Don’t forget to treat yourself to a delicious slice of homemade cake after such a nutritious meal. Life is all about balance after all!
