Compassion Through Algorithms Vol. II

Charity compilation featuring 65daysofstatic and Leafcutter John is raising money for Young Minds Together, a music and performance community group for Black girls in Rotherham.

A charity compilation featuring Sheffield favourites 65daysofstatic is raising money for a community group based in Rotherham.

Released by Sheffield-based record label Light Entries in collaboration with local collective Algorave, Compassion Through Algorithms Vol. II features ten tracks of electronic music created using algorithms by artists based in the North of England.

All profits from the sale of the compilation will go to Young Minds Together, a project which works with black girls in Rotherham to counter the effects of discrimination and bullying due to their race through singing, dancing, acting and performance.

Compassion Through Algorithms Vol. II follows the release of the first volume by Algorave Tokyo, which raised vital funds for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund as part of Bandcamp’s Juneteenth initiative in the wake of the global Black Lives Matter protests.

Commenting on the Black Lives Matter movement and the lack of diverse music event line-ups, Rosa Francesca, who created the art for the release, said: "We need to celebrate Black creatives during their lives, and not just recognise them after their untimely deaths. We have the potential to turn things around, so let's not lose momentum now!”

Paul Wolinski of 65daysofstatic added: “We’re flattered to have been asked to contribute to this collection. Black Lives Matter. Another, better and more just world is possible.”
