We Are Not Alone Pt. 3

Berlin-based BPitch Control have had a busy time of late with this third and final release in a series of recent digital compilations of high-octane dancefloor-driven tracks. Curated by label boss Ellen Allien, each instalment features 11 brand-new tracks from artists that have played at the We Are Not Alone parties, or who will in the future.

Not as intense as the previous volume, Part 3 once again features heavy four-to-the-floor kicks that vary from the unbashful and in-yer-face sound of Ryan James Ford and his ‘EQ 10MG Base’ to the more subtle spacey techno vibes reminiscent of Jeff Mills’ X103 output with LADA’s contribution ‘Kassi’.

The compilation teeters into industrial techno territory with the merciless and unforgiving sound of ‘Nightwing Microlight’ by Berlin DJ and producer Henning Baer, arguably the album’s heaviest contender. Whereas the Israeli veteran producer Shlomi Aber delivers a punishing techno warehouse tune that repeats the title word ‘terrified’ – and we should be.

Cosmin TRG’s ‘Sourde’ is one of the standout moments, with its bubbling, metallic undercurrent, but we’re never too far away from the heavy sound of the 909 kick. Bertrand’s ‘Midsummer Dream’ throws angelic strings into the melting pot but at no point are we allowed to catch our breath. The compilation is clearly a statement of intent that when the parties resume once again, it’s going to be full on.
