Try Dead Donkey Bar for an International Beer Day tipple

As a wheelchair-accessible venue, Dead Donkey Bar has beer galore for International Beer Day.

Beer on tap at Dead Donkey Bar

It’s International Beer Day today, which is “a global celebration of beer, taking place in pubs, breweries, and backyards all over the world. It’s a day for beer lovers everywhere to raise a toast to our brewers and bartenders and rejoice in the greatness of beer!”

Every year, on the first Friday of August, the celebration takes place, and beer lovers – as well as anyone wanting to give it a try – are invited to enjoy a pint and appreciate the people, cultures and history of the amber nectar.

We wanted to celebrate wheelchair-accessible places to go and get a great pint of craft beer, or interesting local beer, so we spoke to Dead Donkey Bar on Abbeydale Road.

Dead Donkey Bar

How would you describe Dead Donkey Bar?

Dead Donkey Bar is a cosy neighbourhood bar where we focus on stocking the best beers, wines and spirits we can find and offering them at reasonable prices, with great service to boot!

What can customers expect from your beer?

The best beers from the UK and beyond, fairly priced and expertly kept.

Which of your beers would you recommend people try on International Beer Day?

We’d recommend starting where we always start… with a Löwenbräu! Our first choice for lager, it always hits the spot!

Then what comes next is tricky, we’re constantly rotating our beer options so we couldn’t say for sure what will be on the taps!

We do have some favourites, though. You’ll likely find some Garage Beer Co. in the fridges, one of our favourite breweries in the world from Barcelona; always worth a try! Then ask us for a taster off the taps and take your pick from some of the best craft kegs from the UK and beyond.

We’re sure we’ll have the beer for you somewhere!

If your alcohol use is causing problems in your life, the Alcohol Service (Sheffield Treatment and Recovery Team) or Project 6 may be able to help.
