Sheffield's favourite open studio event is almost upon us
There’s only days to go until the artists and makers of Sheffield throw open their studio doors for the inaugural weekend of Open Up Sheffield 2023.
Whether you choose to stay local or travel further afield and explore somewhere new, you’re sure to find a warm welcome, friendly faces and fantastic artwork at Open Up.
If you haven’t managed to pick up a brochure yet, hop on to Open Up’s website and download the digital version, where you’ll find details of all the artists and makers taking part, and where to find them.
Neighbourhoods throughout the city and beyond are being represented, from Hathersage, Dore and Endcliffe Park to Ranmoor, Norfolk Park and the Manor.
Furniture designer and Open Up regular for over 20 years Finbarr Lucas had this to say:
If you fancy flexing your creative skills, Sheffield institution The Art House will be hosting art and pottery taster workshops on Saturday 29 April and Saturday 6 May from 11:30am to 1pm, and 2pm to 3pm. These are for everyone of any ability and no booking is required – just rock up.
Open Up is proudly sponsored by Sheffield City Council and Chesterfield Road’s independent art supplies shop and Italian café, Art Scene. Lorraine from Art Scene is always keen to talk about the materials, books, and gifts available, as well as workshops and art tuition.
The folks at Open Up are on hand to help answer any questions you may have in the lead-up to the festival too. You can drop them a line via their website.
