Neighbourhood Voices Spend a song-filled Sunday evening with Neighbourhood Voices

Pop choir brings new tunes, special guests and a live band to The Montgomery this weekend.

Neighbourhood

As Neighbourhood Voices get set for this weekend’s performance, I chatted to NV founder Gina Martin to get the low-down on what we can all look forward to.

Hey Gina. I’ve heard that you and the fabulous Neighbourhood Voices have got a big gig coming up this weekend. How does it feel to be getting properly back into the swing of things, post-pandemic?

We’re all feeling very excited, a little daunted and quite nervous! But I’m sure we’ll be riding the high of Sunday’s performance for some weeks to come and it will all be worth it.

You’ve become renowned for your unique arrangements of pop bangers. What new tunes are on the setlist for Sunday?

Thank you! We’ve got Sigrid’s ‘Don’t Feel Like Crying’, Caroline Polachek’s ‘So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings’ and Laura Mvula’s ‘Green Garden’, as well as loads of other bangers!

You’re going to be supported by some super special guests. Who’s joining you?

Steelworks A Capella are opening the show - think Pitch Perfect-style arrangements and beat boxing. Elanor Moss will be next up. She’s been heavily supported on BBC 6 Music this year as her debut EP ‘Citrus’ came out. Guy Garvey is a big fan.

And finally, for folks who haven’t been to a NV gig before, how would you describe it in three words?

Impressive, joyful and bold.
