Together Against Trump Protest

Mon 3 June | City Hall, S1 2JA | 5-7pm

Donald Trump has threatened us with his presence once again. Prince Charles has caved but Sheffield shall not. Together Against Trump are organising a rally for people of Sheffield to share their opposition to Trump as President, the Islamophobia, bigotry and nationalism that he symbolises, and the failure of the establishment that has led to this point.

How Local Councils Work

This course by number one 'active citizen' Nigel Slack, with the Workers' Educational Association, aims to demystify the decision-making process and power structures within Sheffield City Council, so we can better engage with and influence them.

Céilidh for the Planet

Extinction Rebellion are fundraising to continue the work saving the world which started in April. Bring food to share and cash for the bar. If you're interested in getting more involved they have meetings every Monday at Union St from 6:45pm.

Litter Pick in the Park

Peace in the Park needs no listing here, it being the BEST DAY OF THE YEAR. The team behind it are all volunteers and do an incredible job picking up after all us litter louts. Once you've crawled out of bed on Sunday morning, go and give them a hand. It's family friendly and there's a picnic too.

Knock Down The House - Screening & Discussion

This film follows Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez and three other candidates in the US election primaries last Autumn and is absolutely incredible. If you want to be inspired and awed, come and watch with us at Union St, followed by a chat about the kind of work Brand New Congress does getting progressive candidates into positions of power and how we could reflect that in Sheffield and the UK.

Behind the Mask: Animal Liberation Front Documentary Screening

HeartCure Collective, a new vegan community space, have opened their doors for music events, book clubs, film screenings, food and meetings. This film follows the journeys of ALF activists exposing the maltreatment of animals. Perfect for getting riled up in the lead up to their Animal Liberation Gathering in August.

35th Annual Orgreave Truth and Justice Rally

Sat 15 June | Orgreave Lane, S13 9NE | 1-4pm

Allegations of excessive violence, perjury and cover ups by senior officers of South Yorkshire Police at the Battle of Orgreave have still not been formally investigated. If you've been watching Line of Duty, you'll know there should be one priority here and one priority only, and that is 'nicking bent coppers'. Join the Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign in calling for an inquiry.

Plates: Issues, Activism and Action

Migration Matters are doing loads this month. This event, in collaboration with Foodhall as part of their regular 'Plates', brings together shared food and discussion of what we can do to end violence towards migrants and the politics around it, featuring speakers from South Yorkshire Migration and Asylum Action Group (SYMAAG).

Cycle Sheffield Annual Meeting

Cycle Sheffield update you on their campaigns for a more cycle-friendly Sheffield, to make travel more inclusive, environmentally-friendly and healthier. They'll be joined by a speaker from Living Streets, discussing how we could make Sheffield better for walking around (no, we can't move the hills).
