Chris Webb

A passionate advocate of the importance of high-quality careers education, information, advice and guidance for everyone in society, Chris currently balances his full-time role as an Employability Adviser at Sheffield Hallam University with a range of professional development activities for the Career Development Institute (CDI). In addition, his freelance careers writing covers topics ranging from careers leadership and the Gatsby Benchmarks to digital employability skills and articulating professional identity.

Chris has experience supporting clients with their career planning and development in a range of contexts, including secondary school, further education, adult provision and now higher education. This has included collaborating with other careers professionals and educators to complete the Teach First Careers and Employability Leadership Programme, the Quality in Careers Standard and case studies for National Careers Week.

Chris has written articles and blogs for a number of careers-related publications, including Trotman and FE News, and is a regular contributor to the CDI's quarterly Career Matters magazine, as well as producing and proofreading content for careers resources created by organisations like Success at School.

In his spare time, Chris co-hosts a topical weekly careers podcast, The New Normal, volunteers on the Inspired Teenager Plus career learning Facebook community group and is currently levelling up his chess, Spanish and digital skills while eagerly awaiting his return to youth American Football coaching following the end(ish) of social distancing!
