Zero waste shop re-opens for self-service

A word from Bare Alternative owner Mathew about new opening hours and Covid safety.

Bare alternative interior

We are very excited to announce that we will be re-opening on Friday 26 June, and if you haven't shopped with us before then there's never been a better time as we've improved our shopping system to make it easier to use.

By nature, it's a very hands-on experience when shopping with us, which is why we regretfully had to change how we operate when the pandemic started. However, we are now prepared to re-launch self-service and use of your own containers with social distancing measures in place, while continuing to provide a wide range of dried foods, household and personal care liquid refills and everyday sustainable products at affordable prices.

To get back into the flow of self-service we will be open on Friday 26 June from 10am-6pm and Saturday 27 June from 10:30am-5pm as a trial to make sure everything is working well, and then from the week beginning Tuesday 30 June the following opening hours and schedule will be in place:

  • Monday: Closed
  • Tuesday: *10am-2pm* / 2pm-6pm
  • Wednesday: 10am-1:30pm / 2pm-6pm
  • Thursday: *10am-2pm* / 2pm-6pm
  • Friday: 10am-1:30pm / 2pm-6pm
  • Saturday: *10am-10:30am* / 10:30am-5pm
  • Sunday: 12pm-4pm

*ONLINE ORDER COLLECTION ONLY* - We will also be packing orders during these times so we need full access around the shop which makes social distancing difficult.

If you would like to read more about the changes we have made, please head over to the info page on our website.

Milk and orange juice in glass bottles will be back in stock from Friday 26 June, and we have a selection of new products that we're excited to share soon.

The online ordering system for both collection at the shop and home delivery will return shortly for those who are trying to shield as much as possible, but first, we need to make sure the in-store experience is what you expect.

Finally, thank you for reading this far if you got here. One last thing, we will be hosting two live video sessions via Facebook Live to show you how the new container weighing system will work and also the new layout in the shop. There are events on our Facebook page, so if you are interested please mark that you will be 'going' and we'll look forward to sharing more with you shortly.
