Make a difference - volunteer!

Volunteers help to make Sheffield a better place to live, says Heather Endcliffe from Sheffield Volunteer Centre.

Vols Needed

If you've ever thought about volunteering but weren't sure where to start, Voluntary Action Sheffield's Volunteer Centre can help to connect you with local charities, community groups and non-profit organisations in need of an extra pair of hands.

Whether you want to volunteer from home or out and about in Sheffield, on the weekends or during the week – there’ll be a role to suit you. Perhaps you’re a great listener, a whiz on social media, a dab hand at admin or accounts – whatever your skills, there will be an organisation out there that could use them. There’s a huge variety of opportunities available and training is often provided.

Volunteering is a chance to share your skills, develop new ones, gain relevant experience for future work or study and expand your social circles. It can also have a positive impact on your wellbeing by giving a sense of purpose and helping to boost confidence and self-esteem. By volunteering, you will be making a real difference to the lives of others or to the local environment - helping to make Sheffield a better place to live.

If you're feeling inspired there's a small selection of current opportunities below. There are many more roles you can explore on our website.

If you have any questions about volunteering or need more support to find a suitable opportunity, email us or call 0114 253 6649.
