Do you want to make a difference? Do you want to help others? Do you want to learn new skills and gain experience? Become a volunteer! Sheffield Volunteer Centre provide information, advice and support for people to volunteer.

If you’d like a face-to-face chat about volunteering, come along to our Tuesday drop-in, anytime between 10am – 4pm to speak to a volunteer Advisor. Our Advisors are friendly, knowledgeable and experienced in helping people to find volunteer opportunities and can answer any questions you may have. No need to book, just turn up! Sheffield Futures - Star House City Centre Youth Club

The role requires volunteers to encourage young people to take part in a range of activities in different settings, to divert them from engaging in anti-social and/or risk-taking behaviour. Volunteers will encourage positive social and emotional development too. Good communication skills and being able to listen to and support our young people is an important part of this role. The volunteer will also support the club generally, helping with set up of activities.

St Mary's Church and Community Centre - Cookhouse Hosting Team Volunteer

Can you help make people feel welcome? Help set up the community meal, serve food and tidy up afterwards? Or could you help wash up and keep the community meal running smoothly from behind the scenes? Meal each Thursday at 12:15pm. We need help from 11am-about 2pm each week. Come along one week and check it out.

British Red Cross - Volunteer Driver (Wheelchair Volunteer)

If you enjoy driving and like meeting people, this is the role for you. You’ll be delivering wheelchairs to people locally or further afield to help them get moving again after illness or injury.

Community First Credit Union - Internal Auditor

This voluntary role is to act as part of a team which on behalf of the owner members, oversees the running of the Credit Union, making sure that the organisation operates within the law, regulations, rules and policies.

An Internal Auditor is not a Board member but can attend Board meetings to monitor the running of these and ask questions. The role includes a branch audit element involving carrying out branch audits and reporting findings to the Board of Directors. Most tasks can be carried out at home on the computer. Full training will be provided. Attendance at meetings of the Internal Audit Committee and contributing to the development of its work is also included in this role.

We offer a volunteer position with a commitment for at least 12 months after training. You are expected to become a member of the Credit Union.

Hope Community Foundation - Hope Hampers Food Bank Team Member

This project runs once a week on a Thursday 11am-1pm and we ask for our volunteers to attend 10am-1pm. The position involves packing food parcels as required (either S, M or L) and interacting with clients who access the food bank. There will also be some shelf stocking and general housekeeping during the sessions.

We also have delivery driver positions during the sessions to local areas in S2.

Hope Community Foundation – Community Grocery Assistant

We have a Community Grocery on site and we need assistants to help man the shop.

We are open Monday 'til Friday 11am-3pm so the shift we would ask volunteers to do is either 10.30am-2.30pm or 11.30am-3.30pm. Whole day slots are also available 10.30am-3.30pm. We are happy to look at hours that would suit you as well, for example during school hours etc.

The duties would include stock take, taking and putting away deliveries, till management, customer services, general housekeeping.

Hope Community Foundation - Polkadots Playgroup Team Member

This is a weekly baby and toddler group that runs on Mondays 10.30am-12pm during term-time (Sheffield school calendar). We ask for the volunteers to be there an hour before and after. This position will require a DBS check which we will cover the cost of and do through our supplier.

The position involves setting up games and crafts as per team leaders' advice, setting up snacks and registration, interacting with parents/carers where appropriate, the children, general housekeeping and packing down.
