Sometimes we get accused of being a bit serious. Though there’s always plenty to moan about – and everyone loves a good wallow from time to time – it’s great to feature local artwork that raises the spirits. Vincent James is based in Rochdale and currently has a residency at PAPER Gallery in Manchester, running until 5 September. His work stands out for its interesting use of materials and playful sense of humour, rich with references to the greats of the cartoon world.

Words wise, we’ve got interviews with Andy Fairweather Low and Ghostpoet, an interesting anonymous piece on talking about depression, and another strong (and strange) piece from Andrew Wood entitled ‘Alien Summer’.

As ever, we’ll be back in print next month, so keep them peeled.
