When asked to comment on the subject of white allies, Muhammed Ali once likened the situation to being barrelled down on by 10,000 rattlesnakes.

“If 10,000 snakes were coming down that aisle now, and I had a door that I could shut, and in that 10,000, 1,000 meant right, 1,000 rattlesnakes didn’t want to bite me, I knew they were good. Should I let all these rattlesnakes come down, hoping that that thousand get together and form a shield? Or should I just close the door and stay safe?”

It speaks volumes about the propaganda that enshrouds privilege, and the effects of being hit in the head repeatedly for a career, that Ali was willing to entertain the idea of a thousand magnanimous snakes. Personally, I’d sooner see the spin-off story where it’s only the good snakes, Muhammed Ali lets them into the room and they all get on really well together.
